Many riders will want to buy a new wheel set to cope with different riding situations, so how to replace the wheel set DIY? Then I asked Lin Zhengnan, a giant bike rider, to do demonstrations for readers.


Lin Zhengnan said that when getting the new wheel set, pay attention to whether there is a quick release and brake block. For the CADEX wheel set used in this demonstration, it has a dedicated quick release, and because it is a carbon fiber wheel set, it must be Use original brake pads. When installing the tire, pay attention to the direction of the tire.

▲ Use tools: DIY take-off wheel removal tool, flywheel fixing tool and sleeve, tweezers, hexagon wrench

▲ Release the C-clamp brake and remove the original wheel set.

▲ Install a new wheel set, remember to turn the quick release handle backward.

▲ Adjust the speed to the smallest tooth, and the minimum tension is better for disassembly.

▲ Open the C-clamp brake and remove the rear wheel.

▲ Remove the quick release on the rear wheel.

▲ Remove the flywheel on the rear wheel with the flywheel removal tool.

▲ Remove the entire set of flywheels and prepare to replace them with new ones. (Of course, you can also use the same set of flywheels on both sets of wheels)

▲ When placing the flywheel, pay attention to the large spacing between the teeth on the ratchet.

▲ Align the larger distance in the flywheel before you can put it in.

▲ Place the teeth in order.

▲ Lock the flywheel with a sleeve.

 ▲ Lock the flywheel.

▲ Put in the quick release and put the rear wheel on the car.

▲ Remember to replace the brake pads. (If it is a carbon fiber wheel set, special brake pads are usually attached)

▲ Loosen the fixing screws of the brake pads.

▲ Use tweezers to pull out the brake pads.

▲取出专用的刹车块，要注意左右和方向性。

▲装上刹车皮。

▲锁紧刹车皮的固定螺丝。

▲因为每组轮组的煞车面位置，并不会完全一样，所以要重新调整刹车块的位置。

▲轮框宽度可能不同，影响刹车皮与刹车面的间隙，所以要重新调整刹车握距。

▲即使是使用同样的飞轮，也要重新确认变速的准确性。
